End of Summer Party – Keeping it Simple

Summer is so very hard to say goodbye to!  This year, we decided to have an end of summer party with our neighbors, since a lot of us are fairly new to the community and/or neighborhood.  When we started planning for this party, we were going to grill, have everyone bring a dish to pass, and host something like a five hour party!  Thankfully our neighbors Brandon and April, who were co-hosting the party, brought up the idea of simplicity.  Instead of starting at supper time, they suggested we start at 7:00pm with some friendly yard games in our yard, followed by a bonfire and s’mores in their yard.

My super talented husband designed these fun invites in no time at all, and we printed and delivered them to all of our surrounding neighbors.

My daughter and I had a great time dreaming up some different s’more variations, and shopping for some delicious supplies.

Overall, the simplistic evening was a hit.  Though the kids are the only ones who ended up playing yard games, a good time, and great conversation were had by all!  Many neighbors commented that they had been hoping to do something similar, but didn’t want to take on the task.  We cannot wait to send summer out in style again next year…..after we enjoy it to it’s fullest of course!
